Finding Inspiration in the Desert

November 28, 2025
MFD

When you’re designing in Las Vegas — or anywhere in the desert — the landscape, climate, and local lifestyle play a massive role in shaping interior trends. At MFD, we’ve spotted some key patterns as we head into the end of November. Here’s what’s trending in the desert design scene right now!

Expanded, Functional Kitchen Islands

MFD

Kitchen islands are no longer just for extra counter space — they’re becoming multifunctional hubs. Designers are extending islands to incorporate additional seating, prep zones, and storage, making them true social centers. Waterfall-edge countertops also remain very popular. These are where the counter material continues down the sides of the island, giving that sculptural, seamless look. Natural stone with dramatic veining — like bold marble or quartzite — is being used for islands to make a statement as well.

Curved & Organic Forms

MFD

Straight lines are taking a back seat to more rounded, organic shapes in furniture, lighting, and architecture. Barrel chairs, curved sofas, and oval dining tables are permeating high-end homes.

These curves help soften the often rigid, angular architecture common in desert homes, creating a more inviting, human feel. We love how this home project showcases a curved wood element accented with modern lighting, too.

Outdoor Scultpural Elements

MFD

Luxury exteriors in Las Vegas are feeling more like art galleries. Oversized artwork, sculptural pieces, and statement decor aren’t just for the indoors — they’re part of the existing architecture. MFD is loving these unique elements that make a WOW statement at any entry.

Sustainable Luxury

MFD

Sustainability continues to be a priority — and in the desert, that means being smart about materials and water usage. Designers are leaning into reclaimed wood, natural stone, and durable, long-lasting finishes. Energy efficiency also shows up in design: more insulating materials, shade-conscious architecture, and outdoor zones that maximize use while minimizing environmental impact.

These Las Vegas homes are great for our November interiors inspiration and we can't wait to implement some of these ideas into our own projects for 2026.
